HOLY CRAP! An OFFICIAL GMC manual on how the TUP assembly lines were operated. I mean all the way down to the a list of every tool needed to assemble a CCKW! Yes.. I have it! I tried to not let the tears of joy stain the paper as I was making copies... this thing was an absolute gold mine to read.

Here's the cover:

I'll be collecting all the pages and posting them as a PDF file.. but its a BIG manual. I have some of the better (not already in a TM) figures ready to post... but they are low quality.... first pass wasn't all that great.

HELLS YES! Operation E, TUP assembly. Here's a list of EVERY TOOL NEEDED TO ASSEMBLE A CCKW FROM A T.U.P.!

I will add this to the Technical Manuals section once the entire book is scanned.

More tidbits:

  • Yard is to hold 2500 complete TUP packs (5,000 cases total)
  • 10hr Workday, 6 days a week
  • Local labor is to only be expected to run at 40% efficiency
  • Each line was to produce 100 trucks per day.
  • Each line had 10 Assembly Stations, each line to produce 10 trucks per hour

That means EVERY 6 MINUTES a CCKW was to roll off each line and sent into service.

Here are the 10 Assembly Stations that make up an assembly line for CCKWs at a TUP assembly plant. "Group E" is the moneymaker. You'll note that there are other groups that concern pre- and post- assembly tasks.

The book goes into great detail of what happens at each station, and the tool list above is also keyed to each step.
