Tire weight

Postby pfarber » Tue Dec 18, 2012 10:30 pm

Got my crane scale back, and it worked. First thing I wanted to do was weigh a tire, and rim.

Hook scale to hoist, zero for tare:

First a full tire, rim, pressurized to 55psi:

Then just a rim and bead lock:

Do the math for a tire.

I wanted to do a transmission and transfer case and axles... but till I get the Chevy out of the way to move the gantry that will have to wait.

Anyone care to guess those weights? My scale can only go to 1100lbs... so some things we may never know.

Neat little toy for only $75

Well the 'Fun with a digital scale' segment is over. Last night I was going to weigh the pillow block and when I turned on the scale it immediately indicated FULL and beeped. Now it won't turn off.

The 'support' email said to replace the battery. The instructions say:

"The storage battery is not in the line of free reparation"(sic) Insert your own reparation joke here.

and better yet:

"The scale should not be taken apart, otherwise free guarantee will be cancelled"

Sending it back for a refund.

Would have been a great toy if it worked.
