Harbor Freight is Kicking Kobalts ass (miter saw stand wise)

Harbor Freight is Kicking Kobalts ass (miter saw stand wise)

So New Years day HF has 25% off coupons... time to get a new toy!

I've always used my miter saw on saw horses clamped down and wobbly... well since I have to do some interior work I figure $100 on a decent portable miter stand would be a decent investment.

The HF unit is highly rated but I still looked around and the $90 Kobalt unit looked promising... UNTIL you get to the details.

The HF unit can be stored WITH THE MITER SAW STILL ATTACHED!!!! The Kobalt unit CANNOT. This is because the Kobalt stand uses a set of PLASTIC legs, not metal like on the HF unit.

Also the Kobalt handle is plastic and held on with some dubious looking bolts, the HF unit is again, metal and securely fastened. I noticed this as I may have to lug it up some stairs and the miter stand PLUS saw can top 60-75 lbs. That plastic Kobalt handle does NOT look up to the task.

WIth the 25% discount the HF stand should have an out the door price of ($119.99 - 25% + 6%) $95.39 vs the Kobalts $95.99 (its on sale now for New Years, if the price goes back to list price then the HF is STILL the clear winner on price and features).
